Civil improvements have begun at the Rainier Meadows II PUD. During this phase of the project, all infrastructure serving the plat (including roads, sidewalks, lighting, fencing, and utilities) are constructed and carefully inspected by the City Engineer and Public Works inspectors; their successful inspection paves the way for a final plat, and then the construction of 41 new single-family homes. This project includes a unique partnership between the City and the developer that benefits the Orting community’s recreational habits; a new sport court will be installed in Charter Park, as well as a new parking lot to access the park, re-routing of the Foothills Trail, utility connectivity of the new Charter Park bathroom, attractive landscaping installation, and development of stormwater infrastructure with plentiful capacity to facilitate the new plat and planned expansions of Charter Park. The Park improvements will be built by the Rainier Meadows II developer in alignment with the City’s adopted Main Parks Master Plan to create an abundant and cohesive recreational network for the Orting community to thrive in!
As part of the project, a portion of the Foothills Trail is being relocated to make room for a new stormwater pond.
The contractor has already cleared the path and installed orange fencing to mark the construction zone. A utility pole still needs to be removed before paving can begin. The trail relocation is expected to be completed by the end of June, but timelines may shift depending on utility work.
Please use caution when passing through the area. A temporary steel plate with rubber covering is in place to help trail users safely transition through the work zone.
