2022 Comprehensive Plan Amendment Cycle

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN the City of Orting has begun the 2022 Comprehensive Plan Amendment Cycle. The public is invited to propose amendments. The docket for proposals will remain open until February 28th at 5:00 pm. In order to be placed on the docket, applicants should write a letter to the City Planner briefly describing their proposal(s).  The letter should indicate (1) whether the proposal is for a change in policy, mapping, the UGA, or any other aspect of the plan, if a map change is involved the letter should contain the location and nature of the change; (2) whether the same area or issue was studied during the last amendment cycle, and if so what has changed to make the request in the public interest; (3) whether the proposed amendment meets existing state and local laws; and (4) the interest of the applicant(s) should also be clearly stated (property owner, City Council, Planning Commission, state agency, etc.) and whether the requests benefits the city as a whole or a selected group.  The Planner will respond to the letters as received providing further information about the application requirements. Following staff review, the City Council shall decide which proposed amendments will be carried forward during the current cycle.

 

The current adopted Orting Comprehensive Plan can be viewed on the City’s website at cityoforting.org, or at City Hall.  Citizens wishing to participate in, or be informed of, the 2022 Orting Comprehensive Plan update process should contact Emily Adams, City Planner, at eadams@cityoforting.org / PO Box 489, Orting, WA.
