Backflow Prevention Assembly Testing Notice

Post Date:07/07/2026 11:18 AM

Annual backflow prevention assembly (BPA) testing will be taking place over the coming weeks for homeowners and businesses that have requested to be included on the City's BPA testing list.

Testing will be conducted by Certified Backflow Testing, the City's contracted backflow testing company. If your property is on the City's testing list, you may see their technicians in your neighborhood.

Most backflow prevention assemblies are located near the meter and can be tested without entering the home or business. However, if the assembly is located inside a building or behind a locked gate, access will need to be provided so testing can be completed.

Annual testing helps protect the City's drinking water system and is required by the City's Cross-Connection Control Program in accordance with Orting Municipal Code (OMC) 9-1E-1 through 9-1E-6 and Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 246-290. Annual inspections and testing must be performed by a Washington State Department of Health-certified Backflow Assembly Tester.

If you have any questions or would like to be added to the City's BPA testing list, please contact the City of Orting Public Works Department.
