March 8-12
Downtown Construction Project Update: The construction in the downtown is quickly coming to completion. Landscaping of the downtown streets is about 90 percent complete, the new traffic light is ready to be installed, and the new Turn of the Century light poles are in the process of delivery. City crews are repairing the most damaged sidewalks. We hope to have the project finished before the Daffodil parade on April 10.
Golf Carts: It turns out Orting is the leader in developing alternative transportation in urban areas in our state with its new golf cart ordinance. The state legislature is close to implementing state wide legislation to allow golf carts in urban areas.
Fire/EMS Annexation: There will be an open house at the Public Safety Building Saturday, March 27 starting at 11:00 am with a barbecue and activities for kids and families. Fire District 18 Commissioners and City officials will be available to answer your questions about annexation and the election April 27.
Flood Management: Pierce County will hold an open house to discuss flood management plans Monday March 22 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Orting Middle School. There will be panel presentations at 5:45 pm and 6:45 pm. Hear what the County has learned about flood management. Come and give them your thoughts and concerns.
