The role of the City of Orting Building Department is to protect human life, health and property through the enforcement of Washington State Building and related codes. The building code provisions require that buildings and other structures be constructed, altered and used in a manner that protects a building's occupants as well as the general public.  

The Building Department also manages the City of Orting Stormwater Compliance and serves as a contact point for all Orting residents who have questions or concerns about floodplain regulations and safety.
