Stormwater awareness continues to grow in the Orting Community
Rain Gardens are popping up all over Washington, including the Orting area, and their benefits go beyond their aesthetic appeal – they also absorb and filter stormwater that typically flows into storm drains, riparian areas and rivers, taking pollutants with them. June 6, 2009, the City of Orting provided a location for a rain garden at the North Park, next to the Orting Station Building.
The Orting Stormwater Department would like to recognize Stewardship Partners for making this event possible; and the sponsors whom helped us achieve the rain garden installation; Pierce Stream Team, Waste Connections, Inc., Puyallup River Watershed Council, Safeway, Starbucks, The Park Bench Café and Walmart (South Puyallup).
And a special thanks to our volunteers who donated their time in helping construct the rain garden and demonstrated outstanding community involvement.
Thank You Volunteers!
